Mass Ubuntu deployment in Macedonia

Арангел Ангов has written up a preliminary report of 5,000 new Ubuntu desktops in the Macedonian school system.

After a few meetings and some research Ubuntu just came up as first on the list. The main factor that influenced our choice was the interoperability of Ubuntu with other operating systems.

LinuxWorld Award for best open source distribution

On October 5th at the LinuxWorld Award ceremomy in London, Ubuntu received the user-nominated award for best open source distribution. Some of the other winners during the evening included Alan Cox for a lifetime achievement award for his work with the Linux Kernel, SpreadFirefox for best marketing campaign, Joomla for best open source project, and Rackspace for best open source ISP.

Release Party Time!

It’s that time again! After an arduous six months the Breezy release process is finally nearing completion. Traditionally, Ubunteros from around the world gather around local pubs and establishments to celebrate the release of our favorite distribution, where they can eat, drink, be merry, and share tall tales of the development cycle.

Announcing Ubuntu 5.10RC (Release Candidate)

Matt Zimmerman has announced the release of the Ubuntu 5.10 Release Candidate. This will be the final milestone before the release of 5.10 on October 13th.

MOTU Report, Issue 8

This is the eighth issue of the MOTU report, bringing you up to scratch on all the news of MOTU land. The last few weeks have been quite hectic, since we were all trying to present you with the nicest and cleanest Universe for the Breezy Badger release. The TOFIX lists have been shrinking from day to day, but there are still some bugs to tackle and some packages to get building again.
