Ubuntu Online Summit dates: 3-5 November 2015

I don’t believe we had any objections to the dates put forward by Daniel, so lets set the following dates for the next Ubuntu Online Summit (UOS):-

Tuesday November 3rd through Thursday November 5th, 14:00 to 20:00 UTC.

We’ll begin setting up summit and launchpad this week.

https://launchpad.net/sprints/uos-1511

I’d recommend everyone starts giving some serious thought as to sessions they want at UOS. It would be great to settle these nice and early as our next cycle is an LTS, so I imagine we have a lot to discuss! 🙂

Kubuntu Council re-election results

The nomination period for the new council members ended yesterday, with these nominations:

  • Aaron Honeycutt
  • Clay Weber
  • Ovidiu-Florin Bogdan

as that matches the number of open seats, there will be no voting, so everyone please welcome our 3 new council members.

As previously announced, the membership of the other council members will be adjusted to end one year from now, and the new members will start a regular 2 year term.

Wily Werewolf Beta 1 Released

"I am Groot."
– Groot

The first beta of the Wily Werewolf (to become 15.10) has now been released!

This beta features images for Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Ubuntu GNOME, Ubuntu Kylin, Ubuntu MATE, Xubuntu and the Ubuntu Cloud images.

Pre-releases of the Wily Werewolf are *not* encouraged for anyone needing a stable system or anyone who is not comfortable running into occasional, even frequent breakage. They are, however, recommended for Ubuntu flavor developers and those who want to help in testing, reporting and fixing bugs as we work towards getting this release ready.

Beta 1 includes a number of software updates that are ready for wider testing. This is quite an early set of images, so you should expect some bugs.

While these Beta 1 images have been tested and work, except as noted in the release notes, Ubuntu developers are continuing to improve the Wily Werewolf. In particular, once newer daily images are available, system installation bugs identified in the Beta 1 installer should be verified against the current daily image before being reported in Launchpad. Using an obsolete image to re-report bugs that have already been fixed wastes your time and the time of developers who are busy trying to make 15.10 the best Ubuntu release yet. Always ensure your system is up to date before reporting bugs.
