The latest issue of the Ubuntu Weekly Newsletter has now arrived, covering 2005 October 22nd – 28th.
The main topic for this 20th issue has been the arrival of the latest Ubuntu 6.10 release, (“Edgy Eft”).
Of course, there has been plenty more happening than just the news of the release, with a full of set other topics included in the newsletter:
- Ubuntu 6.10 released
- Firefox 2.0 released, 6.10 first to ship with it
- Topics chosen for Mountain View
- Last Edgy changes
- Launchpad news
- In the press
- Security updates
- Bug stats
One of the things that makes it possible to keep Ubuntu download-speeds high, are the global networks of “mirrors”, each one providing a quick, local way of getting the programs that make up Ubuntu. Thanks to the number of mirrors, frequently the person downloading and their nearest mirror end up being in the same country.
If you’re one of those tireless mirror administrators donating bandwidth to keep speeds high, then there is a piece just for you. The Launchpad section in this weeks issue includes a special request to Ubuntu mirror administrators to check their details in the CD and archive mirror listings. Please ensure that they are listed (and if you’re not listed, register now!).
You can head over now and catch the full Ubuntu Weekly News #20 in one easy page.
